The Gary Douglas band is rich in songwriting style, melodic hooks, and incredible musicianship. Acoustic guitar, piano, and the warm lyrical delivery of Gary Douglas is the strong foundation of the band's uplifting new track, "Million Miles Away"; which is the third single from their latest album Deep in the Water.

The song starts off describing those melancholy mornings, where you don't want to get out of bed. Those mornings where you sit with your cup of coffee and wonder, 'what is the point'. Gary expressly sings: "Like superman hung up his cape, didn't wanna fly anymore, tired of being brave, that felt like me today," before the song takes an inspirational turn into a hopeful pre chorus, where he see's 'the light', even though it '"feels a million miles away." Drums and bass kick in to punch up the chorus, along with a gorgeously arranged choral section singing "Hallelujah" in perfect harmony. Not to mention, a killer saxophone solo by Nicholas Biello that lifts us to new heights, while softly placing us back down into the stripped down last verse.

Gary sings, "show me hope and I'll show you trust, someone's gotta give a damn so why not us?" A stark change in attitude from the first verse, really bringing the song full circle, and sending us out with a truly Springsteen-esque high energy outro that will lift your spirit, and maybe even inspire you to take that big risk, make that big move, and believe in something again.
