Ravenscroft is a melodic, hard hitting alternative rock band from Orange County, California. Made up of a seasoned foursome of musicians; Ralph Buso on vocals, Brett Gorke on guitar, Devin Baker on bass, and Pat Magrath on drums. They describe their sound and influences as Black Sabbath meets Tool, Drowning Pool meets Shinedown, Creed meets Godsmack and more! An eclectic, but familiar old school rock sound, mixed with a modern heavier melodic take on the alternative rock genre. Ravenscroft puts a lot of time and energy into their recordings and live performances, which has garnered them a dedicated, loyal, and growing fan base across the US. In January 2018 Ravenscroft is set to release a six song EP titled "Rebel" featuring two of the songs we are listening to today; "My Dearest One", and "The Chase".

"My Dearest One" is a captivating ballad, showcasing the band's ability to strip back their productions and deliver a genuinely powerful piece of music. The song begins with an acoustic arrangement, acoustic guitar and vocals at the forefront. As it progresses we are introduced to light percussion, electric guitar, building vocal harmonies, and lastly dropping into the last chorus with the full band triumphantly emerging. The lyrics are sweet in nature, focused on love and devotion. We can hear influences reminiscent of "Paradise City" by Guns N Roses, and the steadfast tenderness and emotion similar to "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" by Bret Michaels. Ralph Buso's vocals are powerful and passionate. Pat Magrath's drums come in full effect at the end with a frenzied drum fill leading into a lead guitar section. Ends softly like a feather falling back to the ground after being swept up in a gust of autumn wind. "So many tears I've cried but still I feel this pain inside, please set me free my dearest one".

"The Chase" is the perfect contrast to "My Dearest One", featuring more of what we've come to know as Ravencroft's signature sound. Enormous sound from a wall of doom guitars, thunderous bass, and hard hitting drums. Vocals are gritty and smooth at the same time, with irresistible melodies and layered harmonies, with powerful delivery behind every syllable. Intense lead guitar sections are impressive, featuring pinch harmonics, crispy distorted solos and runaway leads. Smack dab in the middle the band features a hellish bass guitar solo from Devin Baker. layering effects, as the song swoops back in at the end with Metallica-esque gang vocals and sharp rhythmic punches. "Don't waste your time, fighting life, chasing love, don't waste your tears on the fears up above / Don't waste your life telling lies acting up, word to the wise in due time it catches up".
