[ Single Review ] Shofar releases "Running"

Artist: Shofar
Single:"Running"

Shofar is an indie rock band based out of Minneapolis, MN, which is also home to rockers like Motion City Soundtrack, Dillinger Four, and Cloud Cult. Shofar features a full lineup, drums, bass, electric guitars, synth, and lead vocals on their latest track, "Running".

The term shofar (ram's horn) is often used as an instrument of spiritual warfare. The shofar is also a means of awakening the slumbering soul. With this in mind, it is easy to see some spiritual ties between the band and the message behind their songs.

To be present in everyday moments in life, "I've been created for this moment of time, I want to live my life to leave a mark." But not so present that you slow down, and burn out, "I've become a prisoner of unfulfilled expectation, if I slow down I'll see who I've become, running all the time". And, lastly like most of us, our vices can take hold of our willpower, threatening to derail everything. It's important to stay focused on the things that you are in control of, and work your way up to the things you are not.

Straight-forward heavy rock n' roll. Shofar features powerful vocals, a rock-solid rhythm section, and impressive lead guitar and synth parts that really drive the song dynamically. Overall "Running" really sets the pace for the rest of Shofar's latest album, which is available to stream/purchase on their  Bandcamp:
